Unlike inFBIseason 4 , the factor remains level - point despite the type hitting close to habitation . Lucius DuBignon Clay ’s death was a surprising and impactful bit in FBI time of year 7 , installment 8 that will have an effect throughout the rest of the time of year .
ScreenRantinterviews adept John Boyd about Scola ’s surprising storyline , the kinship between Stuart and Nina , and crossing over Bob Hope withJesse Lee Soffer ’s newFBI : Internationalcharacter .
Scola Is A “More Seasoned Agent” In FBI Season 7
“He’s had a partnership. He fell in love. He’s a father. He’s just a more grown-up person.”
ScreenRant : Before register the script for this episode , did you call back that Scola was ever going to get closure about his brother ?
John Boyd : No . I never guess about it . It was such a cool thing to have Mike Weiss throw this at me and one day say , " So there ’s this thing . It ’s a real commission . It ’s a real thing , and they ’re still wait , and this is how it shape . "
I was really , really well-chosen to try that there was a agency that they could find to make it young and relevant to who he is today . I did n’t think it was potential to keep separate this storey or find an interesting , unexampled , sassy way to look at it and develop it more . So I was really mad to read the episode . I call back it ’s great .

The last prison term there was a case of this nature , Scola had trouble separating it from what materialize to his crony . What made him more floor - headed this clock time around ?
John Boyd : I think it ’s maturity . I retrieve he ’s just develop and grown . He ’s had a partnership . He fell in love . He ’s a father . He ’s just a more grown - up individual , and he ’s a more seasoned factor in the picture where he ’s trying to convince Da Silva to down the planes , to call it off .
He ’s using just a more seasoned agent ’s tactical method , which is to name with her . The former Scola used ire . He was still grieving in a way that he was enraged for what had chance to his brother . There ’s been more metre . You just get a good sense that it ’s a more grown - up Scola .
FBI is a procedural drama that explores the workings of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York office as dedicated agents tackle high-stakes cases involving terrorism, organized crime, and various formidable threats.
Boyd Believes FBI Season 7, Episode 9 Marks A New Chapter For Scola
“I don’t know what’s in store, but I know that it’s really an exciting story for me.”
Scola observe Anna is Da Silva . Was Jubal question his judgment at all ?
John Boyd : That ’s the great affair about Jubal . That ’s why he ’s such a great , interesting character , is he ’s interrogate everyone all the time . Jubal will track down any lead you give him , but it does n’t mean he does n’t have three other ideas going at the same clock time . So yeah , that ’s Jubal .
What about you ? Were you distressed the fount would bring up some feelings Scola could n’t handle as you were scan the playscript ?
John Boyd : No , because I knew that , at the goal , there ’s this cathartic reading of this letter . I knew that he was going to find out . It ’s basically about a sojourn from his brother . When we lose someone , and there are no answer , there ’s no piece of them , there ’s no account , there ’s nothing except a gargantuan pile of dust . And then all of a sudden one twenty-four hours , he shows up in a letter , and you ’re too afraid to open it because you do n’t know what it ’ll think , what it ’ll do to you , and then you do , and there he is .
There ’s such a connection . When you ’ve lost someone , you feel them so clear , who they were . I think that ’s what that instant is . He gets to link with who his brother was and what he meant to him in a way that he just has n’t , because the guy cable ’s tell , " Look at me . I was right there the whole time . "
Now that his chum ’s remains have been found and Scola has have closure , what does this intend for him pass forward ?
John Boyd : The interesting thing about closure is it ’s counterintuitive . It does n’t mean you fill up anything . It ’s just an opening . It ’s a new chapter , right ? It ’s gag rule in that he knows that his blood brother was there , but it intend all these other things that we get to research . Could he now go into a new type of sorrow because he screw more about the story ? Does he get a art object of article of clothing ? What could it be that he has ?
Does he have to experience it all over again ? Or is he able to move through it in a way that is healthy , that he gets to honor his blood brother ? perchance there ’s a funeral . I do n’t know what ’s in store , but I get laid that it ’s really an exciting tale for me . We get to discover out what happened to him in that agency . We get to see him . It ’s like he showed up in the episode . It ’s like he came into the sequence .
Boyd Wanted Nina To Read Scola The Letter Before He Knew It Was In The Script
“I was like, ‘This is so great,’ because she’s such an important part of Scola’s story.”
I bang that Nina was the one who take Scola the varsity letter . What were your thoughts on that creative choice ?
John Boyd : It ’s so funny you ask that because when Mike Weiss assure me about the episode , he tell me about the 9/11 delegation and how this is a tangible thing , and that at the remainder of the episode , you read the missive . We hung up the call and my brain immediately die to , " I wish Nina was reading the letter . That would be so coolheaded if Nina read the letter . "
And then I got the drawing a few days later , and it had Nina reading me the letter . I was like , " This is so great , " because she ’s such an of import part of Scola ’s storey and the vulnerability of him having to postulate for help . He needs helper . You ca n’t do this stuff and nonsense alone .
Are you quenched with where Scola and Nina are in their kinship ?
John Boyd : I imagine Scola and Nina are in a solid blank space . I remember they ’ve gone over the speed bumps of parentage and agent and danger and how they raise a Word together in their problem . I think they ’re ready for a shake - up .
Scola does n’t have Tiffany anymore , but I love the Scola - Maggie - OA trio . Maggie and OA patently have their own shorthand , but what do you recall Scola append to that moral force ?
John Boyd : It ’s fun . I think Scola is another someone who will do anything for the typesetter’s case . Scola has that , " I do n’t like about the BS . We ’re go to do this . " I think it ’s corking . It ’s playfulness to have an extra set of hand , like , " No BS . " He is fierce , sort of ferocious . He ’s like a weenie to the ivory . He wants it , he ’s going after it . So I retrieve that ’s fun . He supply that .
Fans Will Learn More About Scola’s Past In An Upcoming FBI Episode
“It’s really heavy, really dark, and it’s a more mature, seasoned Scola navigating through some serious stuff in his past.”
I was actually thinking how cool it would be to see Scola interact with Jesse Lee Soffer ’s fresh character onFBI : International . Is that something you would want in a potential crosswalk ?
John Boyd : Yeah , of course . Jesse ’s obviously an awesome hombre . He ’s been doing this perpetually , and that ’s such a great show , and they ’ve been amazing this season . I ’ve watched a crew of it . It ’s so exciting . We ’re always open . I love a dependable crossover . You eff me , I ’m always down for another spherical crossing over case . Have n’t been to Budapest , you have it off , but I ’m available .
Do you have a favorite upcoming episode that you think will come across with lover ?
John Boyd : Yeah , there ’s an episode we ’re doing right now . I ca n’t say too much about it , but we find out that because Scola was a routine crazy as a teenager , his parent sent him to a military school upstate . And we find out about some thing that happen up there during the caseful .
It ’s a really interesting episode . It ’s really heavy , really dark , and it ’s a more mature , seasoned Scola navigating through some serious stuff in his past . I ca n’t wait for the fans to see it . I think it ’s go away to be fairly knock-down .
