We witness his reference being crack open and his expectations being break through open . And we find out as he start out to build himself back up to understand who he ’s choke to be in this job .
How Does Brandon Larracuente’s Officer Diaz Maintain HisOn CallOptimism?

Brandon , your theatrical role of Officer Diaz comes into this job with a lot of optimism , but as you observe , when those cracks happen , that ’s when the optimism can seep out . How , if at all , does Officer Diaz maintain that optimism throughout this career ?
Brandon Larracuente : That ’s a great question . I think that that ’s actually something that he himself is wondering . There are times where the job I ’m certain for him is A-one fulfilling , where he feel like , ' Okay , I made a difference today . Then I ’m sure there are other time when he ’s query every unmarried decision . ' What could I have done otherwise ? ' I think that that ’s a question that really ca n’t be serve . I think that ’s a question that every unmarried time he ill-treat out onto the field , he ’s ask himself that question on a daily foundation . And depending on how that Clarence Shepard Day Jr. went , his solution might be different .
Officer Harmon & Officer Diaz Balance Each Other Out
“They are learning from each other…”
Your characters are both on such unlike trajectory . We have a veteran in the field , we have a rookie who ’s just getting into this life history . I feel like even if Officer Diaz has n’t mystify that one call that I mentioned earlier , he can kind of lose that optimism just by being affiliate with a character who has got that one call , we are a product of our environs .
But on the flip side , Troian , I feel like Diaz ’s optimism could make your character back up . When we look at that moral force , how do you think your characters balance each other out in that way ? Bring each other back to equilibrium ?
Troian Bellisario : Oh , I think you really summed it up and that is perfectly what happens in the first season . Diaz shows up with a number of expectations and Harmon has got to form him and mold him so that he is capable of going out into the force and doing good and rest good . I think the flipside is that because I ’ve been in this job for 12 long time and because I have the notion that I have and they ’re sort of concretise , I ’ve had to concretize them . I ’ve had to compartmentalize these things . And so when Diaz show up and he has a fresh room of approach thing , it forces Tracy to consider a new coming . I mean what ’s really beautiful is that we have two very present , they do n’t get a raft of screen time because we ’re so meddling as characters in our job , but we have two very active , very present family survive . I think what ’s really coolheaded is that you get to watch the manner Diaz interacts with his syndicate and how that influences Harmon .
