ScreenRant : What did you observe most interesting about this particularAccusedcase ?
Jamie Chung : I feel like there ’s so much to love about this particular piece of work . First of all , I love that it ’s the opportunity to work with Michael Chiklis and Ken Jeong — two of my favourite people in the diligence . And to be united with them , as a team , I have it away was give way to be a heavy experience , especially having someone like Michael Chiklis lead the helm . He ’ll tell you exactly how many , but with so many years of being in front of and behind the camera , working with music , on Broadway , on microscope stage , all these medians — he ’s a master key in all mediums for storytelling .
He ’s the sort of manager that player love , because as an actor himself , he realize our summons , and he knows how to communicate with actor . I ’m not saying that any of it ’s fine , but commonly it ’s what you know . It ’s a coping mechanism , and it usually leads from trauma . What is her trauma ? realize that her father left everything behind in Korea for them to have a great life and to have her mom be taken away , and it ’s just the three of them in this new state , it just feels really unfair .

And I palpate like understanding that trauma and the anger and the pain , and her father ’s not really present , and she feels like she ’ll never be as good as her mom , and she is n’t her mom , and now it ’s all on her . The huge amount of tension , what it ’s like to be addicted to break up cocaine or to rush along — the drugs of choice for this persona . What is that like ? What ’s it care to try out to get out of it ? A lot of intervention episode , but just to realise the human deportment of what it ’s like to seek to get out of that . And then if you ’re heroic for money , despairing for the next high , who are you going to be hanging out with ?
You ’re going to be hang out with an enabler . It ’s just really trying to understand her theatrical role from a place of without judgment because really she ’s just strain to do her best at that moment . And unluckily , that best got her in really deep worry . And also the guiltiness of fly the coop the law and have Rex go down for the law-breaking of accidentally toss off this liquor store employee . She ’s going to have to live with that . How does she contend ? Grace’s Actions In Accused Were An Attempt To Protect Eugene And Her Father

Jamie Chung : The grounds why she love Eugene so much is because he has quite the past as well , but he does n’t follow from a place of judgment either . I do n’t think that she ’s ever had anyone bang her the way that he has and believe in her the way that he has and have someone that can essentially take care of her in a elbow room . It really helped bring her out of a really dark place when they moved to Lowell , Massachusetts , and to restart their lives to lead by from Grace ’s dark shame and past tense of drug use .
I guess they get hold each other in the most vulnerable time , and they really did lean on each other . you’re able to tell he ’s such a ripe person . He has such a good heart , and that ’s really who he is . He embody the characters . Ken embody his character so well because he really is that person . He ’s just such a good guy , and how can you not fall in passion with that ? And although she retain to give these little secrets , and you may see the horror on his nerve when she talk about Rex killing an employee , but it was by accident .
And it sound like she ’s fight back him , but in actuality , she ’s defending herself . And I retrieve that ’s why she ’s so panicky to tell him the full Sojourner Truth . She just kind of gives him enough where it feels okay . But in essence , I think they were just really endeavor to protect each other . She was endeavor to protect him from her past , the tempest , Rex , because she knows that he ’s never go to stop .

But she really just did it all out of love for them , not eff for Rex . And I think Eugene feel his backbone and really find his ground to digest up for someone that he sleep with — he was fundamentally just doing that because he love her and wanted to protect her as well . So sadly , although they wanted the same for each other , it just terminate in a ugly manner .
So would you say that what Eugene read about Grace on the bandstand is an accurate appraisal of how she felt ?
Jamie Chung : I think so . Yeah . Absolutely . I believe that he really was just trying to be my protector . And unfortunately , I was his grace , but he was n’t mine . It was so beautiful , the room it ended .
Chung Feels The Jury’s Verdict Was Fair After Eugene’s Actions In Accused
“Hopefully his testimony will give him some leniency on his actual sentencing. But I do think that he was guilty, sadly.”
How do you feel about Eugene being found guilty by the panel ?
Jamie Chung : I remember it was fair . If you look at it from a factual period of view , who was holding the gas pedal ? Who was in possession of the shooter ? Who owned the gun ? Who had access to the gun ? Who bestow the ordnance ? Who dissipate the gun ? And so even though it was n’t his intent to use the gun , he still brought it adulterate , safety off , quick to go . So he had every intention to use it to protect her , but unfortunately , it was an accident . So hopefully his testimony will give him some leniency on his actual sentencing . But I do recollect that he was guilty , lamentably .
If Grace survived , how do you guess she would have reacted to everything ?
Jamie Chung : She hurl for the hit man . She was doing it so that she would prevent him from killing Rex and go to gaol . Had she survived , I think she would ’ve felt a little better jazz that she would also be able to inquire for fellow feeling or ask for a lenient sentence . Jamie Chung : No , not a bunch of history changes . It just kind of fall into my lap . After two strikes and people being out of jobs , I just felt so grateful that Michael cogitate of me . Casting was like , " Is there anyone in particular that you ’d like to see that can play this role ? Because she has to be kind of approximate around the edge , but then she can clean up well . So it was kind of perfect . It really came at a metre when I was personally feel a petty hopeless . As a creative , you want to be able to tell such profound stories and story with such profundity , and it really came at a time when I was feeling low . What ’s crazy is that these kind of stories really speak to me . I guess it ’s my Korean side . We just love deplorable news report . It ’s in our blood , our DNA , if you follow any Korean films , you make out what I ’m saying .
Chung Believes Mulan’s Once Upon A Time Ending May Have Been Different If She Was Honest With Aurora
“I think it really would’ve led Aurora to make a really tough decision. An interesting decision.”
I also adored your graphic symbol , Mulan , back in the day . shine onOnce Upon a Time , what do you think happened to her ? She had a bit of an opened ending .
Jamie Chung : Oh , she really did . I ’d like to think that she find her person . She recognise that Princess Aurora constitute her person , and she ’s lead to leave that where it is . I intend she leave heartbroken , but I think it kind of fuel her mania . It led her to be more vulnerable , because I recall , had she been vulnerable with Princess Aurora , I recollect it would ’ve had a unlike ending if she just spoke her truth . But I think she continued on with the humiliated substance , and she found pleasure and happiness after . That ’s what I ’d wish to conceive . Or she died a warrior . So either or .
Now I ’m rum . What do you think Mulan ’s conclusion would ’ve been if she was honest with Aurora ?
Jamie Chung : I suppose it really would ’ve lead Aurora to make a really tough determination . An interesting decision .

Jamie Chung : I really did too . I do n’t intend it was write like that on the pageboy , but that ’s the selection that I made because it ’s more interesting , is it not ? I love that they allowed me to act that version of the lineament ’s choice , because I found it to be far more interesting than just letting her go .
What ’s next for you ? Do you have any other upcoming project ?
Jamie Chung : Yes , I do . I have this incredible project that is going in the first fourth of 2025 , and it ’s called Seeing Red . It ’s about three female Asian , Australian , and Asian American protagonists , and how they overwhelm their personal adversities . These three storylines somehow end up entwine in a way . It ’s so attractively told , because it ’s really tell the tale of female Asiatic rage . And you seldom get to see that on screen . You rarely ever get to see that story being played out , apart from Beef .
But Asian women are usually expected to play along or be meek , and it ’s really about their rage , what drives it , and how they overcome these adversities and their personal pain . It ’s f*cking beautiful , and I ca n’t wait for people to see it . But that go in the quarter , and I did this really cool revenge flick with Kiefer Sutherland , Krysten Ritter , and Kiernan Shipka . It ’s directed and written by Sophie Tabet . We already shot that , so we ’ll see what take place to that little indie next year . But there are a lot of unbelievable indie cinema that are being made at this moment . So I ’m very proud . Seeing Red and Stone Cold Fox . There are the two films that you should be watching out for .
